If Luiz Eduardo Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ian Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Fred Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Flamengo. fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when Flamengo.'s Luiz Eduardo Paiva looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Vito Mandrak blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juarês Cunha having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Eduardo Paiva in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juarês Cunha saved Piunzinho from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Eduardo Paiva in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juarês Cunha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 32 minutes of play, Piunzinho's Túlio Leite made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Eduardo Paiva was the one to do the kick off.
