Nuno Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Medeiros succeeded in the game's 6th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. If Elói de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zé Paulo Meireles in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yan Chaves saved Società Sportiva Palestra from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Paulo Meireles in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yan Chaves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Elói de Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Yan Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Paulo Meireles, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Joaquim Severo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yan Chaves. Società Sportiva Palestra's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joaquim Severo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Eriberto Recife took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Medeiros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd match minute, Società Sportiva Palestra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erasmo Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. Zé Paulo Meireles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Yan Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Muniz Sport Club's Zé Paulo Meireles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yan Chaves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After 42 minutes, Luizão Valle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Società Sportiva Palestra and the Muniz Sport Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. 47 minutes into the match, Zé Paulo Meireles notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Società Sportiva Palestra's Yan Chaves. Yan Chaves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Paulo Meireles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eriberto Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Medeiros in the 52nd minute of play. Rafinha Vaz kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Società Sportiva Palestra's Yan Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Severo in the 61st minute of play. Zé Paulo Meireles got in the 66th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Yan Chaves handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Felipe Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Società Sportiva Palestra's Erasmo Gonçalves got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered Erasmo Gonçalves off the ground. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Zé Paulo Meireles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Muniz Sport Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Paulo Meireles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yan Chaves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vivaldo Travassos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yan Chaves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Luizão Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Joaquim Severo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yan Chaves having to interfere. Muniz Sport Club played a much better game than Società Sportiva Palestra and deserved their victory. The Società Sportiva Palestra players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
