The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Winchester FC. In the 15th minute Afonsinho Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aírton de Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Afonsinho Secco took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Aírton de Queiroz to make any attempt to save it. 19 minutes into the match, Winchester FC's goal looked a bit too open when Afonsinho Secco came free, but Aírton de Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, Winchester FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Pinho to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute, Tião Figueiredo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Winchester FC's Aírton de Queiroz didn't even have to move. Valdomiro Ribeiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Aírton de Queiroz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 26 played minutes Winchester FC got a freekick which was hit by Samuca Guimarães. If Valdomiro Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Aírton de Queiroz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Valdomiro Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aírton de Queiroz having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Afonsinho Secco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aírton de Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonsinho Secco in the 44th minute of play. With his leg Aírton de Queiroz managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Rabeca EC's Valdomiro Ribeiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Válbson de Lima stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Afonsinho Secco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aírton de Queiroz was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. After some careless play in the Winchester FC defense, Valdomiro Ribeiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aírton de Queiroz. The Winchester FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aírton de Queiroz should have stopped the shot. In the 69th match minute, Rabeca EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdomiro Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Winchester FC's goalkeeper Aírton de Queiroz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zézinho Tasso hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. If Hamílton Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
