The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Romeo Whiteley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. Arnaldo Ourente's late challenge caught a Cravaio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arnaldo Ourente helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Club Rio's Arnaldo Ourente got a free kick in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Cravaio's Nelson Sampaio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jerônimo Negri narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nelson Sampaio to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Romeo Whiteley ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Davi Tande was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Whiteley in the 56th minute of play forced Cravaio's goalkeeper Davi Tande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Whiteley in the 84th minute of play forced Cravaio's goalkeeper Davi Tande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cravaio's Davi Tande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Whiteley in the 88th minute of play. Club Rio walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
