In the 2nd play minute Cristinel Romoşan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised João Francisco Breckenfeld. 1-0. The supporters of Teresina FC booed when Vilha Rela FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caco Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 7 minutes, Armando Monteiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Teresina FC and the Vilha Rela FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Teresina FC's Armando Monteiro got a free kick in the 7th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Caco Garcia during the 10th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Ethan Sawyer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Teresina FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ethan Sawyer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Francisco Breckenfeld breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Fikret Cevval had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. Vilha Rela FC's João Francisco Breckenfeld played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ethan Sawyer in the 21st minute of play. Teresina FC's Osmar Paes got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Elano Britto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Teresina FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. With his leg João Francisco Breckenfeld managed to avoid a goal in the 33rdth minute, when Teresina FC's Ethan Sawyer fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience was convinced that Ethan Sawyer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Francisco Breckenfeld was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ethan Sawyer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Vilha Rela FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Marcel Rocha hit a great ball. João Francisco Breckenfeld took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ethan Sawyer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ethan Sawyer in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Francisco Breckenfeld prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Alex Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Armando Monteiro was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 79 minutes had been played. In the 79th minute, Armando Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mazinho Bertassi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ethan Sawyer in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Francisco Breckenfeld saved Vilha Rela FC from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Vilha Rela FC's Luiz Fernando Ribeiro got a free kick in the 89th minute. Ethan Sawyer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
