Marco Sabóia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Geovanni Baiano made a huge save. In the 7th minute, Marco Sabóia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 10th minute, Décio Moreno got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antônio Mesquita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chiquinho Cardozo in the 17th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chiquinho Cardozo in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antônio Mesquita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 24 minutes into the match, Soromondongo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Chiquinho Cardozo came free, but Antônio Mesquita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Soromondongo FC's Guga Rosado got a free kick in the 27th minute. Rubens da Costa, 28 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When Oswaldo Arce fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Avai F.C's protests and gave Oswaldo Arce a yellow card for diving instead. Oswaldo Arce hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Avai F.C's Geovanni Baiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas Coelho in the 34th minute of play. Chiquinho Cardozo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Antônio Mesquita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. If Alan Arantes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Soromondongo FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Guga Rosado hit a great ball.

Chiquinho Cardozo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Antônio Mesquita having to make a save. Décio Moreno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Antônio Mesquita made a huge save. In the 57th minute, Décio Moreno got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Chiquinho Cardozo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 62nd minute. Avai F.C's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The supporters of Avai F.C booed when Soromondongo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guga Rosado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Avai F.C's Chiquinho Cardozo was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 72nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Oswaldo Arce got his second yellow card in the match during the 74th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 75th match minute, Avai F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oswaldo Arce to maneuver through the defense. Chiquinho Cardozo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Antônio Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Antônio Catarinense fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Soromondongo FC's protests and gave Antônio Catarinense a yellow card for diving instead. In the 81st minute, one of Soromondongo FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Soromondongo FC. Rubens da Costa shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Décio Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antônio Mesquita having to interfere. Marco Sabóia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Décio Moreno got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 90 minutes, Manolo Santana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Avai F.C and the Soromondongo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Manolo Santana hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Marco Sabóia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovanni Baiano was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. Antônio Mesquita was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Manolo Santana. When the final whistle sounded Avai F.C left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Soromondongo FC.
