After a defensive mix-up in Forquilna's zone, Nilton Cearense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enio Lopez came out of the goal and Nilton Cearense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Osmar Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabrício Lira, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Artur Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osmar Gonçalves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Artur Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 95th minute, Forquilna's Fabrício Lira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Osmar Gonçalves. Osmar Gonçalves yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. Forquilna's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
