Abelardo de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Fábio Dantas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nilmar Pirani read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Nilmar Pirani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clube Atlético Mineiro's Nilmar Pirani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo de Castro in the 35th minute of play. Nilmar Pirani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Fábio Dantas in the 36th minute of the match. If Abelardo de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Fábio Dantas took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nilmar Pirani. Nilmar Pirani dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 48 minutes into the match, Trapizeiro FC's goalkeeper João Pedro Paraense had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joaquim Trigo. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sebastião Guerra made a kick off. In the 54thth minute of the game Abelardo de Castro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Clube Atlético Mineiro's Nilmar Pirani was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Abelardo de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilmar Pirani having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Luís Fábio Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Trapizeiro FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Fábio Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilmar Pirani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 64 played minutes Trapizeiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Patrício Félix. After a rather tough play, Trapizeiro FC's Armindo Gaúcho got a free kick in the 68th minute. If Sebastião Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Pedro Paraense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastião Guerra in the 74th minute of play. Nilmar Pirani made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Fábio Dantas in the 77th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo de Castro in the 78th minute of play forced Clube Atlético Mineiro's goalkeeper Nilmar Pirani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Pedro Paraense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Trigo in the 81st minute of the match. Clube Atlético Mineiro were awarded a corner in the 84th minute after Trapizeiro FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Teodoro Damião took the corner. Luís Fábio Dantas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Nilmar Pirani made a huge save. Luís Fábio Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilmar Pirani having to interfere. Nilmar Pirani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo de Castro in the 96th minute of the match. The Clube Atlético Mineiro fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Trapizeiro FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
