Encarnacao SC were furious when Olavo Nogueira was red carded, 12 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 12 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. Doni de Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Jacinto de Medeiros made a huge save. Jacinto de Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarbas Albuquerque in the 22nd minute of play. Gilson Ramos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinei Velloso in the 28th minute of the match. In the 29th minute Jarbas Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
