The referee ignored Canhoba FC's protests and gave Jerônimo de Medeiros a yellow card for diving instead. Jerônimo de Medeiros hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. The supporters of vascão o Melhor booed when Canhoba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rony Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Loco Ser's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reynaldo Branco was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. After 26 minutes Canhoba FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ronaldão Maia who took care of the corner kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Lenílson Amorim advanced and headed the ball into goal, 2-1 in the 26th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Loco Ser in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reynaldo Branco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. vascão o Melhor's Dorian Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Canhoba FC's Carlos Alberto Marquez got a free kick in the 31st minute. When Ronaldão Maia came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the vascão o Melhor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldão Maia couldn't finish the play. Dorian Maia struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Reynaldo Branco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for vascão o Melhor. If Allan Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Loco Ser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Reynaldo Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Loco Ser to make the kick off. Clemente Lago hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Canhoba FC's zone, Ronaldão Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reynaldo Branco came out of the goal and Ronaldão Maia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Loco Ser had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matheus Mattos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the match, Canhoba FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Eduardo Dracena came free, but Reynaldo Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reynaldo Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Loco Ser in the 82nd minute of the match. If Dorian Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Loco Ser came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the vascão o Melhor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Loco Ser couldn't finish the play. Reynaldo Branco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Loco Ser's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Allan Couto might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jano Cunha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Allan Couto ran back to his position shaking his head.
