Hélio Xavier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renatinho Monteiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 24 minutes into the match, vAux EC's goal looked a bit too open when Albertino Melo came free, but Hélio Xavier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute, Alessandro Bueno sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and vAux EC's Hélio Xavier didn't even have to move. Hélio Xavier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertino Melo in the 39th minute of play. A hard shot 41 in the game by Renatinho Monteiro from a close distance when the talented Hélio Xavier managed to make a qualified save. vAux EC's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Firmiano SS's Albertino Melo got a free kick in the 45th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo Tróia to make the kick off. vAux EC's Hélio Xavier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertino Melo in the 51st minute of play. Ernani de Senna struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. João de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for vAux EC. Hélio Xavier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessandro Bueno, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Alessandro Bueno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Hélio Xavier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélio Xavier came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Firmiano SS's Renatinho Monteiro. But to his dismay, Renatinho Monteiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After having played for 80 minutes, Paulo Tróia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. vAux EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo Tróia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Firmiano SS's Renatinho Monteiro in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye vAux EC's goalie prevented a goal. After 84 minutes, Ernani de Senna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the vAux EC and the Firmiano SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. 86 minutes into the game, Firmiano SS's Albertino Melo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hélio Xavier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. vAux EC's Paulo Tróia managed to work through Firmiano SS's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Paulo Tróia dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in.
