El paranaense Athletico's Carlinhos Secco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Camargo in the 5th minute of play. Serginho Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlinhos Secco having to interfere. Serginho Duarte received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carlinhos Secco came out and tried to block the shot, but Serginho Duarte slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 13th minute. With his leg Carlinhos Secco managed to avoid a goal in the 17thth minute, when Evangelion's Bruninho Camargo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Serginho Duarte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Carlinhos Secco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gilberto de Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Evangelion's Sandro Almeida got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Evangelion's Bruninho Camargo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Carlinhos Secco. That made the score 2-0 after 34 minutes of play. In the 40thth minute of the game Serginho Duarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El paranaense Athletico's Carlinhos Secco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Washington Rodrigues could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Carlinhos Secco made a huge save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bruninho Camargo to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in El paranaense Athletico's zone, Bruninho Camargo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlinhos Secco came out of the goal and Bruninho Camargo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 53 minutes into the game, Evangelion's Serginho Duarte nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlinhos Secco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Carlinhos Secco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serginho Duarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Kaká Barreto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 67 minutes into the match, El paranaense Athletico's goal looked a bit too open when Washington Rodrigues came free, but Carlinhos Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Serginho Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Serginho Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Washington Rodrigues took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlinhos Secco. Carlinhos Secco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Bruninho Camargo put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Carlinhos Secco. In the 81st minute Serginho Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos Secco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lino de Carvalho hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. If Glauco Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Evangelion had played much better football throughout.
