In the 2nd match minute, MarcuSantos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vânderson Messias to maneuver through the defense. Artur de Sena charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Artur de Sena the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 6 played minutes MarcuSantos FC got a freekick which was hit by Artur de Sena. Dito Bueno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Jardel Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Várzea's supporters rose to their feet, but Jardel Hermes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chicão Mangueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 12 minutes into the match, MarcuSantos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dito Bueno came free, but Chicão Mangueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dito Bueno in the 15th minute of play forced MarcuSantos FC's goalkeeper Chicão Mangueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. MarcuSantos FC's Chicão Mangueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jardel Hermes in the 17th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dito Bueno in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chicão Mangueira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Isaltino Fontes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isaltino Fontes during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kauã Novaes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valério Passos in the 29th minute of play. Geovanni Zanette kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dito Bueno in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chicão Mangueira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dito Bueno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Mangueira having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Várzea's Jardel Hermes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chicão Mangueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 47 minutes into the match, Jardel Hermes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chicão Mangueira. MarcuSantos FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jardel Hermes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After the first half Várzea were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valério Passos to make the kick off. The supporters of Várzea booed when MarcuSantos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedito Guedes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind MarcuSantos FC's goalkeeper Chicão Mangueira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Artur de Sena hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Várzea's Jardel Hermes got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sílvio Luiz Paraibano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Chicão Mangueira. MarcuSantos FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dito Bueno might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chicão Mangueira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dito Bueno ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 71st minute, Artur de Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 73 minutes, Dito Bueno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Várzea and the MarcuSantos FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dito Bueno kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Sílvio Luiz Paraibano hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. If Valério Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Wágner Lucas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Chicão Mangueira. The goal made the score 0-2. Kauã Novaes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valério Passos's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Várzea's Luís Fabiano Amorim shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 94th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Chicão Mangueira but with some difficulty. Vágner de Sousa's late challenge caught a Várzea's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vágner de Sousa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Várzea booed when MarcuSantos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vágner de Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Várzea's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
