In the 4th minute, Murillo Maia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luisinho Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Evandro Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Murillo Maia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeremias Guedes charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeremias Guedes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 10 played minutes VASCO E.C got a freekick which was hit by Jeremias Guedes. In the 17th minute, Fausto Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Reinaldo de Andrade hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. If Marcos Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dudu Meireles made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Marcos Loyola sent off a good shot on target. Dudu Meireles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Coelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. If Luisinho Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th minute, Murillo Maia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Soares fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luisinho Valle in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evandro Soares saved VASCO E.C from getting behind. If Luisinho Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The attack was good, but when Luisinho Valle in the 47th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luisinho Valle was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Soares's goal looked a bit too open when Marcos Loyola came free, but Dudu Meireles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fausto Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 60 played minutes Soares got a freekick which was hit by Leandro Maia. Evandro Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisinho Valle in the 68th minute of the match. If Luisinho Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Cauan Dante managed to get in a good position for a shot. VASCO E.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Cauan Dante was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dudu Meireles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The attack was good, but when Luisinho Valle in the 82nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 93rd minute, Zé Augusto Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Soares's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
