Lino Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Léo Paulista in the 10th minute of the match. FLAMENGO's Baltazar Mesquita got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Naldo Cabral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Lino Vieira made a huge save. Lino Vieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Fabiano da Fonseca in the 16th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, FLAMENGO's goalkeeper Lino Vieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Naldo Cabral. With an all-out effort, Canto do Forte's Lino Vieira threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Léo Paulista, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 24th match minute, Canto do Forte was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrão Meireles to maneuver through the defense. Lino Vieira made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Naldo Cabral sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes into the match, FLAMENGO's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Paulo França came free, but Lino Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Naldo Cabral came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Lino Vieira could save by the left post. 32 minutes into the match, Canto do Forte's Naldo Cabral sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lino Vieira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 55th minute Wellington Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lino Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 57 minutes into the game, Canto do Forte's Léo Paulista nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lino Vieira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After some careless play in the FLAMENGO defense, Léo Paulista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lino Vieira. The FLAMENGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lino Vieira should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Baltazar Mesquita in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastião Negri saved Canto do Forte from getting behind. 69 minutes into the match, Léo Paulista had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lino Vieira. FLAMENGO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Léo Paulista was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. In the 75th match minute, FLAMENGO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrianinho Valladares to maneuver through the defense. 76 minutes into the match, FLAMENGO's goal looked a bit too open when Léo Paulista came free, but Lino Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th minute, Baltazar Mesquita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wellington Pirani in the 88th minute of play forced FLAMENGO's goalkeeper Lino Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 91 minutes into the match, FLAMENGO's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Lago came free, but Lino Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Luís Fabiano da Fonseca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lino Vieira. FLAMENGO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Fabiano da Fonseca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Canto do Forte had played much better football throughout.
