Carlos Alberto Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrézinho Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With 35 minutes on the clock, Narciso Bastos commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 35 minutes into the game, one of 31 de Maio:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Donato Nóbrega's late challenge caught a Araguari's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donato Nóbrega helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to 31 de Maio getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Donato Nóbrega hit a great ball. Cesinha Pombal took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 42nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Alberto Aparecido. 31 de Maio's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Deivid de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Deivid de Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes Araguari got a freekick which was hit by Deivid de Andrade. Gilberto Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdir Donato in the 48th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doriva Lopez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doriva Lopez in the 56th minute of play forced 31 de Maio's goalkeeper Carlos Alberto Aparecido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gerson Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Alberto Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doriva Lopez, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Andrézinho Eger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Aparecido having to interfere. If Donato Nóbrega had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Araguari had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
