The Jazz Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Giuseppe Baiano should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rodriguinho Mandrak during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 21 minutes into the match, Peer Bilger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Giuseppe Baiano. Jazz Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Peer Bilger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Giuseppe Baiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Peer Bilger's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. A collision led to Blackburn Rovers getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Betinho Veiga hit a great ball. Jazz Esporte Clube's Giuseppe Baiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peer Bilger in the 32nd minute of play. Giuseppe Baiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peer Bilger, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Giuseppe Baiano came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Blackburn Rovers's Nico de Lara. But to his dismay, Nico de Lara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Giuseppe Baiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peer Bilger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 49th minute, Peer Bilger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Peer Bilger scored 0-6 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Giuseppe Baiano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Giuseppe Baiano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Peer Bilger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luiz Reis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Giuseppe Baiano having to make a save. Celso Fonseca hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Giuseppe Baiano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Reis in the 83rd minute. In the 84th minute, Silas de Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 85 played minutes, Jazz Esporte Clube's Celso Fonseca shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Magno Leite came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jazz Esporte Clube reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiago Gabriel Cordeiro during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A very good chance. The Jazz Esporte Clube fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Blackburn Rovers were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
