The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Délio Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christian Pontes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. When Denílson Bezerra came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Stunts Sport Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denílson Bezerra couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute Washington Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Pontes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Délio Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot. CA Fogo Central's supporters rose to their feet, but Délio Zanette was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christian Pontes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Denílson Bezerra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Jeremias Barbosa made a huge save. CA Fogo Central's Délio Zanette got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Christian Pontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Délio Zanette, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the game, CA Fogo Central's Washington Barros nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Christian Pontes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Fellipe de Senna took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Christian Pontes. Christian Pontes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulão Velasco during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 45th minute, Paulão Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Tomé Velloso charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. CA Fogo Central's supporters crossed their fingers, but Washington Barros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Washington Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Christian Pontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Délio Zanette left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CA Fogo Central fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5.
