Norberto Rosado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dorival Pinheiro went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After 9 minutes, Dorival Pinheiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Novo Hamburgo and the Academia B.F. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dorival Pinheiro kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dito Xavier got free with Jan Pająk in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Novo Hamburgo defense, Jaime de Mendonça kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan Pająk. The Novo Hamburgo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan Pająk should have stopped the shot. Dito Xavier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Norberto Rosado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Tande in the 21st minute of play. In the 22ndth minute of the game Dorival Pinheiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia B.F.'s Norberto Rosado was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Dorival Pinheiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Norberto Rosado was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. If Fred Tande had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26 played minutes Academia B.F. got a freekick which was hit by Carlinhos Moreno. In the 28th minute Dorival Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norberto Rosado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dito Xavier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Jan Pająk made a huge save. In the 35th minute, Dito Xavier made a precise shot to the right of Jan Pająk. Novo Hamburgo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After having played for 43 minutes, Fred Tande managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Novo Hamburgo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Tande was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime de Mendonça was the one to do the kick off. Miguel Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Academia B.F.'s goalkeeper Norberto Rosado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dorival Pinheiro. Norberto Rosado was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Serginho Ortiz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Serginho Ortiz really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Fred Tande received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Norberto Rosado came out and tried to block the shot, but Fred Tande slotted it home off the left post making it 2-4 in the 63rd minute. Jan Pająk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime de Mendonça in the 68th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Dorival Pinheiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Novo Hamburgo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-5. Norberto Rosado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dorival Pinheiro went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-6 was the resulting score. Dito Xavier struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Jan Pająk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academia B.F.. Dito Xavier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 86th match minute, Novo Hamburgo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serginho Ortiz to maneuver through the defense. Novo Hamburgo's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
