Joaquim Souto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Sydney Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. Almir Vander hit a great ball. 49 minutes into the match, 09 de Julho's Humberto Alagoano broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anísio Barral was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 56 minutes, Flavinho do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horizonte's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavinho do Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flavinho do Vale got free with Joaquim Souto in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sydney Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Aníbal Gomes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aníbal Gomes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 70 minutes into the match, Horizonte's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho de Almeida came free, but Aníbal Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 73rd minute by Anísio Barral got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Bebeto Figueiredo hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 2-1 became the score in the 76th minute when Sydney Macedo elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The supporters of 09 de Julho booed when Horizonte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeu Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. 09 de Julho's Juninho de Almeida managed to work through Horizonte's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Juninho de Almeida dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. In the 85th minute, Sydney Macedo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Aníbal Gomes was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. When Sydney Macedo came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the 09 de Julho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sydney Macedo couldn't finish the play. Cacá Aguiar hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Túlio Sampaio hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Aníbal Gomes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sydney Macedo in the 97th minute of the match. Juninho de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aníbal Gomes having to interfere. 09 de Julho were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Horizonte for a fine match.
