In the 16th minute, Adolfo Cresconio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Catalao's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Brito came free, but William Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. William Perez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itaperuna-RJ. When Diguinho Lopez fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itaperuna-RJ's protests and gave Diguinho Lopez a yellow card for diving instead. Paulo José Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mateus Massa having to interfere. Catalao's William Perez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Paulista in the 84th minute of play. After 86 minutes Catalao's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaime Pena who took care of the corner kick. Jaime Pena made a great header on Itaperuna-RJ's corner, it was just that Catalao's William Perez managed to reach the ball for a save. William Perez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nicolas Brito went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. When Adolfo Cresconio came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Itaperuna-RJ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adolfo Cresconio couldn't finish the play. Fred Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. William Perez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Catalao's William Perez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Paulista in the 97th minute of play. Itaperuna-RJ played a much better game than Catalao and deserved their victory. The Catalao players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
