Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) EspartaFC's Rubens Paraibano started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Luiz Fabiano Dracena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. Evandro da Fonseca's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Pedro Soares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. A wasted opportunity for Queixo Juniors. 9 minutes into the match, EspartaFC's goal looked a bit too open when Fernandinho Carioca came free, but José Pedro Soares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rubens Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Alfredinho Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fred Barbosa got free with Alfredinho Bezerra in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evandro da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. José Pedro Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rubens Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredinho Bezerra having to interfere. After a rather tough play, EspartaFC's Agostinho Paraibano got a free kick in the 31st minute. After a defensive mix-up in EspartaFC's zone, Evandro da Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Pedro Soares came out of the goal and Evandro da Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of EspartaFC booed when Queixo Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erasmo Quintal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fred Barbosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. EspartaFC's Rubens Paraibano got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Fabiano Dracena during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Luiz Fabiano Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute of the match, Rubens Paraibano tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Alfredinho Bezerra saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 45th minute, Evandro da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernandinho Carioca was the one to do the kick off. Fernandinho Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rubens Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Queixo Juniors's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
