If Tostão Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 5 played minutes Laguna Sunrise got a freekick which was hit by Nando Brodel. If Jonas Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. Laguna Sunrise's Luís Mangueira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Laguna Sunrise from getting a goal against them. Jonas Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 14thth minute of the game Erasmo Galvão who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but BYU Cougars ®'s César Bertassi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Galvão in the 15th minute of play forced BYU Cougars ®'s goalkeeper César Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erasmo Galvão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. César Bertassi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erasmo Galvão in the 19th minute of the match. After 22 played minutes BYU Cougars ® got a freekick which was hit by Chico Salles. After 23 played minutes, Laguna Sunrise's Tales Ribeiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper César Bertassi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Laguna Sunrise reached it. In the 25th minute of the match, Tostão Hoffmann got a very nice opportunity to score, but Luís Mangueira was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Chico Salles hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Tostão Hoffmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Luís Mangueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. César Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio Passos in the 40th minute of play. In the 42nd minute Erasmo Galvão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but César Bertassi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Laguna Sunrise's Tales Ribeiro got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Nando Brodel's late challenge caught a BYU Cougars ®'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nando Brodel helped the player get up and apologised. In the 47th match minute, Laguna Sunrise was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando Brodel to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After a defensive mix-up in Laguna Sunrise's zone, Tostão Hoffmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Mangueira came out of the goal and Tostão Hoffmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 62 minutes into the match, Laguna Sunrise's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Sarmento came free, but Luís Mangueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the game, Aloísio Passos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of César Bertassi. Aloísio Passos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. In the 70th minute, Tostão Hoffmann left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The BYU Cougars ® fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Tostão Hoffmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Luís Mangueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Laguna Sunrise getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Nando Brodel hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, BYU Cougars ®'s Tostão Hoffmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Mangueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Erasmo Galvão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without César Bertassi having to make a save. 90 minutes into the match, Laguna Sunrise's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Sarmento came free, but Luís Mangueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
