After a rather tough play, Mecanibais's Dário Britto got a free kick in the 8th minute. When Didi Rosado came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Eao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Didi Rosado couldn't finish the play. In the 19th minute, Mecanibais's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after José Queiroz fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Andrézinho Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manoel Lara in the 20th minute of play. José Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Acácio Neiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Hernani Valle made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Mecanibais booed when Eao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dagoberto Dracena didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Eao's goalkeeper Andrézinho Mazza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Mecanibais's zone, José Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Acácio Neiva came out of the goal and José Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Eao's Andrézinho Mazza got control of the ball when Conrado Brito tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Eao's zone, Hernani Valle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrézinho Mazza came out of the goal and Hernani Valle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Manoel Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mecanibais's supporters rose to their feet, but Manoel Lara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrézinho Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Manoel Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Andrézinho Mazza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eao's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
