Waldir Dionísio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duarte de Alcântara in the 10th minute of the match. In the 12th match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodriguinho Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. In the 14th minute, Kaká Pombal had to leave the field with a concussion. Manchester United made a substitution. Giovani Mineiro replaced Kaká Pombal. In the 16th minute, Giuseppe Arce hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 19 minutes into the match, Taguariaiva SC's goal looked a bit too open when Enéas Souto came free, but Waldir Dionísio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 20 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Richard Melo. The crowd rose to their feet as Manchester United's Duarte de Alcântara slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Waldir Dionísio. That made the score 2-0 after 23 minutes of play. In the 27th match minute, Taguariaiva SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silas Queirós to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the match, Manchester United's Duarte de Alcântara broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Geovanni Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Taguariaiva SC's goalkeeper Waldir Dionísio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duarte de Alcântara. Cauã Rosado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 38 minutes, Dudu Amaral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester United and the Taguariaiva SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Dudu Amaral hit a great ball. If Magno de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodriguinho Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. Duarte de Alcântara's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Waldir Dionísio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Alfredão Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Jacinto Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Taguariaiva SC booed when Manchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enéas Souto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Waldir Dionísio came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Manchester United's Duarte de Alcântara. But to his dismay, Duarte de Alcântara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Taguariaiva SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Duarte de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. 73 minutes into the game, Cássio Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taguariaiva SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester United the free kick. In the 73rd match minute, Taguariaiva SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Lima to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th minute, Duarte de Alcântara made a precise shot to the right of Waldir Dionísio. Taguariaiva SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. Waldir Dionísio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dudu Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duarte de Alcântara in the 84th minute of play forced Taguariaiva SC's goalkeeper Waldir Dionísio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Waldir Dionísio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovani Mineiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waldir Dionísio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Duarte de Alcântara went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. 95 minutes into the match, Duarte de Alcântara notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Taguariaiva SC's Waldir Dionísio. Waldir Dionísio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
