Percy Mazza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. João Adolfo de Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, João Adolfo de Barros made a precise shot to the right of Sidnei do Valle. Tijuca F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. João Adolfo de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Sidnei do Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wágner de Medeiros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Tijuca F.C.'s Adrianinho Fonseca got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 67th minute, João Adolfo de Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 69 minutes into the game, one of Palmeiras Tem Mundial:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Tijuca F.C.. Gilson Cunha stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Percy Mazza. 2-3. If Dieguinho Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dagoberto de Andrade struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Percy Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tijuca F.C.. If Afonsinho Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dieguinho Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Mazza having to interfere. Percy Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dieguinho Guerra in the 89th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Tijuca F.C.'s zone, Wágner de Medeiros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sidnei do Valle came out of the goal and Wágner de Medeiros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Tijuca F.C. eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
