Friedrich Nietzsche made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kléberson Terra in the 4th minute of play. Kléberson Terra blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Friedrich Nietzsche having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Balco's Karl Marx got a free kick in the 11th minute. The long shot by Alexandre Félix in the 12th minute really tested Friedrich Nietzsche's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 15th minute, Mazinho Cabral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Mazinho Cabral fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Pindense's protests and gave Mazinho Cabral a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Balco booed when Vila Pindense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazinho Cabral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Balco's João Vítor Linares managed to work through Vila Pindense's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. João Vítor Linares dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. A collision led to Vila Pindense getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Mazinho Cabral hit a great ball. 23 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Balco's João Vítor Linares fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. If João Vítor Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Friedrich Nietzsche successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Sílvio dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Friedrich Nietzsche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kléberson Terra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by João Vítor Linares got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Chico Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute Chico Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claes Malmström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Balco's João Vítor Linares got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Chico Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claes Malmström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Vítor Linares in the 73rd minute of the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Kléberson Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vila Pindense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kléberson Terra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Balco's Sonny Rollins got a free kick in the 78th minute. Kléberson Terra struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Friedrich Nietzsche didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vila Pindense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléberson Terra in the 81st minute of play forced Balco's goalkeeper Friedrich Nietzsche to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Júnior Mangueira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Friedrich Nietzsche was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Balco walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
