Joel Saraiva made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Agostinho Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jefferson Vander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute, Athletico Paranaense's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Alfredo de Carvalho fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Athletico Paranaense reached it. Agostinho Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jefferson Vander, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Alfredo de Carvalho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Agostinho Marquez when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 1-1 became the score in the 40th minute when Alfredo de Carvalho elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Paulo Carvalho was the one to do the kick off. Athletico Paranaense's Agostinho Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jefferson Vander in the 56th minute of play. Agostinho Marquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo de Carvalho in the 57th minute of play. Walmir Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jefferson Vander took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Agostinho Marquez. Agostinho Marquez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Sipeva EC's Jefferson Vander got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jefferson Vander might have been able to make a better finish in the 98th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Agostinho Marquez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jefferson Vander ran back to his position shaking his head. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sipeva EC had played much better football throughout.
