If Manoel Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandrinho Sanches hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Manoel Mendes's late challenge caught a Centauros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The supporters of Atalho SS booed when Centauros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thiago Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Barbosa came out of the goal and Zé Pedro Senna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Zé Pedro Senna made the kick off in the second half. Miguel Barbosa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulinho Aguiar, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute.
