Chicão Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 9 minutes into the match, Garibaldi RS's goalkeeper Chicão Recife had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Acácio Cruz. 11 minutes into the match, Garibaldi RS's Alexandre Duarte sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Laerte Valle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Joffily EC's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Vargas came free, but Laerte Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar Vargas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laerte Valle having to interfere. A collision led to Joffily EC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Guto de Azevedo hit a great ball. Alexandre Duarte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laerte Valle having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Alexandre Duarte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Garibaldi RS booed when Joffily EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Oswaldo Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oswaldo Camargo hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. When Alexandre Duarte came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Garibaldi RS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Duarte couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edgar Vargas to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute Tiago Proença shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chicão Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Alexandre Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 98th minute, Matheus Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Garibaldi RS players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
