With an extended leg and a bit of luck Serafim da Silveira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Doni Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serafim da Silveira having to interfere. In the 15thth minute of the game Vágner Lima who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but S.E. Bento XVI's Durval Souto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Doni Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E. Bento XVI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Doni Figueiredo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Serafim da Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Víktor Veiga in the 20th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, S.E. Bento XVI's Doni Figueiredo got a free kick in the 27th minute. The supporters of C.A MATOGROSSENSE booed when S.E. Bento XVI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Décio Bertassi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute, Kiko Gomes fired a really elegant long shot, but Durval Souto threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Bento XVI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bento XVI's Durval Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vágner Lima in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Víktor Veiga was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the C.A MATOGROSSENSE defense, Víktor Veiga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Serafim da Silveira. The C.A MATOGROSSENSE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serafim da Silveira should have stopped the shot. Víktor Veiga charged in rather forcefully in the 100th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Víktor Veiga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to S.E. Bento XVI getting a freekick after 100 minutes play. Víktor Veiga hit a great ball. S.E. Bento XVI's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
