When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Víktor Veiga put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Paulo José Carneiro. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itahum's goalkeeper Paulo José Carneiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 14 minutes into the match, Itahum's goal looked a bit too open when Víktor Veiga came free, but Paulo José Carneiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doni Figueiredo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 16 played minutes Itahum got a freekick which was hit by Telmo Tepedino. Víktor Veiga struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Paulo José Carneiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.E. Bento XVI. After 18 minutes, Víktor Veiga made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Itahum's Paulo José Carneiro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Itahum defense, Doni Figueiredo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulo José Carneiro. The Itahum fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo José Carneiro should have stopped the shot. When Doni Figueiredo came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the S.E. Bento XVI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doni Figueiredo couldn't finish the play. Paulo José Carneiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Víktor Veiga in the 27th minute of the match. Paulo José Carneiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Víktor Veiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Víktor Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute Doni Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo José Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Itahum's Baltazar Barral sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Durval Souto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in S.E. Bento XVI reached it. Víktor Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Baltazar Barral made the kick off in the second half. Baltazar Barral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Durval Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Doni Figueiredo took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Paulo José Carneiro to make any attempt to save it. Anderson Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Durval Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baltazar Barral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 65 played minutes, S.E. Bento XVI's Arlindo Castro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Paulo José Carneiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in S.E. Bento XVI reached it. In the 72nd of the match, Víktor Veiga tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Paulo José Carneiro got in the way and made a wonderful save. Itahum's Paulo José Carneiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Víktor Veiga in the 74th minute of play. Doni Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match, Itahum's goalkeeper Paulo José Carneiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doni Figueiredo. The crowd rose to their feet as Víktor Veiga kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Paulo José Carneiro. That made the score 0-5 in the 78 minute of play. Dorival Sarmento's late challenge caught a Itahum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The Itahum players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
