With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rafinha Lira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Fontinha's Zé Augusto Furtado got a free kick in the 10th minute. Clemente Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafinha Lira having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clemente Tinoco got free with Rafinha Lira in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 15 played minutes Fontinha got a freekick which was hit by Zé Augusto Furtado. In the 18th minute, Clemente Tinoco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Carlos Alberto Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the match, Fontinha's Carlos Alberto Galvão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nestor da Rocha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When João Paulo Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Fontinha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Paulo Veloso couldn't finish the play. After having played for 30 minutes, Tales Vasconcelos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Fontinha players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for São Gaffo Futebol Clube.
