Júnior Carioca started the match with the kick off. Kléberson Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Piaca EC's Fabinho Valadares got a free kick in the 4th minute. Edgard Ferraz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kléberson Tavares in the 10th minute. If Kléberson Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute, Dalmo Rezende hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Júnior Carioca scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Toninho Cerezo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wilian Guerra, 26 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 36th minute Júnior Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Toninho Cerezo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, José Paulo Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Toninho Cerezo came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Piaca EC's Júnior Carioca. But to his dismay, Júnior Carioca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Richard Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Toninho Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zé Pedro Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Pedro Mineiro struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Edgard Ferraz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Beirao SS. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zé Pedro Mineiro was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Zé Pedro Mineiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard Ferraz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Beirao SS's Toninho Cerezo got control of the ball when Richard Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Piaca EC's Hílton Pena got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 69th minute, Donato Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hílton Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Júnior Carioca struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Beirao SS's Cléber Gaspar suffered a concussion after 84 minutes and had to leave the field. After 84 minutes, Régis Godoi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Piaca EC and the Beirao SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Beirao SS booed when Piaca EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Régis Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kléberson Tavares in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edgard Ferraz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Beirao SS's Toninho Cerezo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Beirao SS from getting a goal against them. In the 95th minute, José Paulo Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richard Castro got free with Toninho Cerezo in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Piaca EC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
