The audience was convinced that Wanderson Madureira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Murillo Romero was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. The referee ignored Praia Grande's protests and gave Thiago Mendes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Praia Grande getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Thiago Mendes hit a great ball. Murillo Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcinho de Queiroz in the 39th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Otávio Netto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Praia Grande's supporters rose to their feet, but Otávio Netto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
