Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Marcus Vidal started the match with the kick off. In the 10th minute Dalmo Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilson Quaresma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giovani Meira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Matos, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 12th minute, Dalmo Sousa fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After 13 played minutes Altair FC got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Matos. 14 minutes into the game, Maurício Veloso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Nilson Quaresma was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dalmo Sousa hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Nilson Quaresma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmo Sousa in the 20th minute of play. Giovani Meira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcus Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kléberson Donato kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Placa's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Vidal came free, but Giovani Meira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hamílton Pontes was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 25 minutes into the match. In the 25th match minute, Placa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamílton Pontes to maneuver through the defense. Zézinho Mota sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bernardo Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joélson Prata kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Giovani Meira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcus Vidal's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Maurício Veloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilson Quaresma having to interfere. But to his dismay, Maurício Veloso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Maurício Veloso made a kick off. Túlio Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Nilson Quaresma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Placa booed when Altair FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Carlos Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Túlio Prestes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nilson Quaresma having to make a save. A collision led to Altair FC getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Antônio Carlos Matos hit a great ball. 59 minutes into the match, Altair FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maurício Veloso came free, but Nilson Quaresma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardo Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Giovani Meira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Túlio Prestes fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Placa's protests and gave Túlio Prestes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 62nd match minute, Placa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Túlio Prestes to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Placa's zone, Antônio Carlos Matos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani Meira came out of the goal and Antônio Carlos Matos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 65 minutes of play, Placa's Maurício Veloso made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nilson Quaresma was left in no man's land by his defense there! Placa's Túlio Prestes got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kléberson Donato blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nilson Quaresma having to make a save. Maurício Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcus Vidals short, quick shot in the 84thth minute got Giovani Meira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 90th minute, Raí Urbano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Giovani Meira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernardo Moura in the 91st minute of the match. If Zézinho Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Placa's zone, Bernardo Moura stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani Meira came out of the goal and Bernardo Moura tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Maurício Veloso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Placa's supporters rose to their feet, but Maurício Veloso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilson Quaresma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Placa walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
