Giovani Meira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romário Carvalho in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute, Túlio Prestes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Placa's zone, Zézinho Motta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani Meira came out of the goal and Zézinho Motta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Hamílton Pontes fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Placa's protests and gave Hamílton Pontes a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had been going on for 36 minutes, Hybrius FC's Falcão de Lima got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Giovani Meira. Dalmo Sousa might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Eduardo Loureiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dalmo Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head. If Maurício Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Carlos Eduardo Loureiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dalmo Sousa's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Dalmo Sousa might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Eduardo Loureiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dalmo Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dalmo Sousa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Hybrius FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dalmo Sousa came free, but Carlos Eduardo Loureiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastião Jacinto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Giovani Meira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Zézinho Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giovani Meira having to interfere. If Maurício Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giovani Meira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zézinho Motta, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Kléberson Donato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Carlos Eduardo Loureiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
