Seating: 1665, VIP seats: 143) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Albertinho Berger got the match started through his kick off. Timorande's Wágner Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Berger in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th minute, Ronaldo Paulista left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Seropedica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Adhemar Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adhemar Aparecido blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rubinho Bertassi having to make a save. Angelo Sá's late challenge caught a Seropedica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Angelo Sá helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 15th minute of the game. One of Timorande:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Seropedica:s goal. Wágner Fonseca went to the wrong direction when Jorginho Ceresso was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. When Adhemar Aparecido came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Timorande fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adhemar Aparecido couldn't finish the play. 22 minutes into the match, Seropedica's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Berger came free, but Rubinho Bertassi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronaldo Paulista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute Tadeu Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubinho Bertassi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Seropedica's goalkeeper Rubinho Bertassi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adhemar Aparecido. In the 40th minute, Armando Siqueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeremias Furtado hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After 47 played minutes Seropedica got a freekick which was hit by Cafu da Cunha.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adhemar Aparecido stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Lauro Ramalho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Seropedica and the Timorande players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 53 played minutes Seropedica got a freekick which was hit by Lauro Ramalho. In the 63rd match minute, Seropedica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lauro Ramalho to maneuver through the defense. Rubinho Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Aparecido in the 67th minute of play. Tadeu Peixoto scored 3-1 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rubinho Bertassi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Timorande booed when Seropedica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorginho Ceresso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rubinho Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Aparecido in the 81st minute of play. Adhemar Aparecido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubinho Bertassi having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tadeu Peixoto in the 83rd minute of play forced Seropedica's goalkeeper Rubinho Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lauro Ramalho hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Adhemar Aparecido was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. If Adhemar Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rubinho Bertassi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tadeu Peixoto in the 96th minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the Timorande players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
