In the 2nd minute, Diamantino Simões hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Afonso Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafael Negri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Genílson Torres having to make a save. When Ernani Ribeiro fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Magalhaes's protests and gave Ernani Ribeiro a yellow card for diving instead. Ernani Ribeiro hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After 19 minutes, Benê Luz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Clube de Regatas Perebas and the Magalhaes players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 20 played minutes Clube de Regatas Perebas got a freekick which was hit by Benê Luz. David Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Torres having to interfere. The supporters of Magalhaes booed when Clube de Regatas Perebas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tião Lira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th minute Waldir de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acácio Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th play minute Afonso Teixeira came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Acácio Matos. 1-0. 39 minutes into the game, Chiquinho Félix was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Magalhaes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube de Regatas Perebas the free kick. 38 minutes into the game, one of Magalhaes:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 40th minute there was a penalty for Clube de Regatas Perebas. Dino Rosado stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Acácio Matos. 2-0. In the 44th match minute, Magalhaes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival Brasil to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Waldir de Amaral made a kick off. Afonso Teixeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Clube de Regatas Perebas's Waldir de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In a very dangerous position, a player in Clube de Regatas Perebas fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 61st minute. Penalty! Chiquinho Félix shot the penalty kick right outside the post. David Guerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Genílson Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldir de Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Acácio Matos having to interfere. 72 minutes into the match, Clube de Regatas Perebas's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Negri came free, but Genílson Torres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Genílson Torres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Negri, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Acácio Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Afonso Teixeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If David Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the game, Magalhaes's Ernani Ribeiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Genílson Torres made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Clube de Regatas Perebas's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
