Acácio Matos came out of the goal and Afonso Teixeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 11 minutes, Rafael Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Magalhaes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rafael Negri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Magalhaes's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Teixeira came free, but Acácio Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Afonso Teixeira came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Clube de Regatas Perebas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afonso Teixeira couldn't finish the play. If Afonso Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Acácio Matos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Teixeira in the 27th minute of play. When Rafael Negri came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Magalhaes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rafael Negri couldn't finish the play. 34 minutes into the match, Magalhaes's goal looked a bit too open when Waldir de Amaral came free, but Acácio Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Waldir de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Acácio Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldir de Amaral took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Acácio Matos. Acácio Matos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The supporters of Clube de Regatas Perebas booed when Magalhaes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani Ribeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Clube de Regatas Perebas getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Délio de Amaral hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Acácio Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldir de Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Negri in the 59th minute of play forced Clube de Regatas Perebas's goalkeeper Genílson Torres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 63 minutes into the game, David Guerra cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Genílson Torres was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Rafael Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Genílson Torres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rafael Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Torres having to interfere. Rafael Negri kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute Délio de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Acácio Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Délio de Amaral fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Clube de Regatas Perebas's protests and gave Délio de Amaral a yellow card for diving instead. After 97 played minutes Clube de Regatas Perebas got a freekick which was hit by Délio de Amaral. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
