Hard Rock's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Francisco Marquez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Renatinho Godoi hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Carlos Alberto de Castro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luiz Paulo Brito was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. The supporters of Hard Rock booed when Coelho E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wanderson Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Hard Rock's protests and gave João Francisco Massa a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Hard Rock:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Coelho E.C.:s goal. Luiz Paulo Brito had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Edmundo Vasconcelos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Luiz Paulo Brito came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Coelho E.C.'s Edmundo Vasconcelos. But to his dismay, Edmundo Vasconcelos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 28thth minute of the game Carlos Alberto de Castro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hard Rock's Luiz Paulo Brito was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Francisco Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Coelho E.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Marquez couldn't finish the play. Almir Linares charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Almir Linares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd match minute, Coelho E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Almir Linares to maneuver through the defense. Zé Carlos Trigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delfim Ferreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 41st minute of the match Wanderson Tasso shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luiz Paulo Brito showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 46 minutes, Carlos Alberto de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Coelho E.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Alberto de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hard Rock's Luiz Paulo Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto de Castro in the 59th minute of play. Luiz Paulo Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Coelho E.C.'s Carlos Alberto de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hard Rock's Luiz Paulo Brito proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Hard Rock from getting a goal against them. 70 minutes into the match, Hard Rock's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto de Castro came free, but Luiz Paulo Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, Coelho E.C.'s Carlos Alberto de Castro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luiz Paulo Brito narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hard Rock's João Francisco Massa got his second yellow card of the match in the 85th minute. The referee ordered João Francisco Massa off the ground. Coelho E.C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
