Robinho Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jairo da Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palestra Itália EC's Robinho Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinho Andrade in the 10th minute of play. Palestra Itália EC's Olavo Dante got his second yellow card of the match in the 14th minute. The referee ordered Olavo Dante off the ground. 16 minutes into the match, The Joker's Luiz Fabiano Munhoz broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 19 minutes into the game, one of The Joker:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Robinho Hoffmann came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by The Joker's Claudinho Andrade. But to his dismay, Claudinho Andrade quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When The Joker's Jairo da Silveira in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Palestra Itália EC's goalie prevented a goal. Diogo Leal charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Diogo Leal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of The Joker booed when Palestra Itália EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Palestra Itália EC's Diogo Leal got a free kick in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Elano Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Naldo Tasso in the 55th minute of the match. Wilton Sergipano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elano Cabral having to make a save. Naldo Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elano Cabral having to interfere. Jairo da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Robinho Hoffmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Palestra Itália EC's zone, Claudinho Andrade stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robinho Hoffmann came out of the goal and Claudinho Andrade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Naldo Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Naldo Tasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the match, Palestra Itália EC's goal looked a bit too open when Jairo da Silveira came free, but Robinho Hoffmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Inácio Breckenfeld fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Joker's protests and gave Inácio Breckenfeld a yellow card for diving instead. After 85 played minutes The Joker got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Breckenfeld. After a rather tough play, The Joker's Luiz Fabiano Munhoz got a free kick in the 87th minute. Germano Ceresso was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 88th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.
