But to his dismay, Silas Damião quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After 8 played minutes Grêmio Canoense got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Velasco. Geraldo Donatello was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Sílvio Luiz Alcântara. Geraldo Donatello made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Luisão Fontes sent off a good shot on target. If Laércio Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 21 minutes into the game, Vila Ildemar FC's Luisão Fontes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Geraldo Donatello made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 32nd minute, Luís Gustavo Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute, Luisão Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th match minute, Vila Ildemar FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anderson Fantini to maneuver through the defense. If Laércio Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Grêmio Canoense's Geraldo Donatello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silas Damião in the 46th minute of play.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ademir Schmidt during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Vila Ildemar FC booed when Grêmio Canoense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir Schmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Laércio Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laércio Pinho in the 65th minute of play forced Vila Ildemar FC's goalkeeper Fabrício Linhares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laércio Pinho struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Fabrício Linhares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio Canoense. Silas Damião recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Alfredo Botelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Grêmio Canoense's Patrick Velasco got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered Patrick Velasco off the ground. After a rather tough play, Grêmio Canoense's Patrick Velasco got a free kick in the 79th minute. When Luisão Fontes came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Vila Ildemar FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luisão Fontes couldn't finish the play. Fabrício Linhares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademir Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. When Laércio Pinho came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Grêmio Canoense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laércio Pinho couldn't finish the play. Geraldo Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silas Damião in the 90th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Laércio Pinho got free with Fabrício Linhares in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
