Romeu Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute, Romeu Sena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Novaes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Adriano Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Róbson Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dedé Fantini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Jeferson Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Waldir Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Róbson Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldir Arruda in the 44th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Waldir Arruda to make the kick off. Tapuia EC's Adriano Pinheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raúl Soeiro in the 54th minute of play. Bebeto Terra's late challenge caught a Sitinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bebeto Terra helped the player get up and apologised. In the 55th minute, Bebeto Terra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 60 minutes into the game, Gualter de Godoi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sitinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tapuia EC the free kick. The supporters of Tapuia EC booed when Sitinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gualter de Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. 62 minutes into the game, Waldir Arruda recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Róbson Valle. Waldir Arruda showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. In the 66th minute, Romeu Sena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Waldir Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Róbson Valle having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Waldir Arruda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tapuia EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldir Arruda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Róbson Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tapuia EC's goalkeeper Adriano Pinheiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 90th minute, Waldir Arruda fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Róbson Valle, passed just outside the right post. Róbson Valle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frederico Esteves, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Carlos Novaes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adriano Pinheiro having to make a save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Tapuia EC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
