The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Agnaldo Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inácio Mello in the 3rd minute of the match. Lúcio Schmidt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Trancoso having to interfere. 9 minutes in the game, Fábio Mendes fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Agnaldo Cardozo having to interfere. If Leonardo Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vendinha's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Fábio Mendes 13 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. In the 16th minute Fábio Mendes suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Bernardinho Guerra charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bernardinho Guerra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th match minute, Vendinha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardinho Guerra to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Vendinha's Hermínio Jacinto got a free kick in the 26th minute. Medieval Football Club were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Vendinha's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vitinho Mendes took the corner. Medieval Football Club's Vitinho Mendes was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Agnaldo Cardozo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonardo Pena got free with Agnaldo Cardozo in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Vendinha's zone, Ivo Recife stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agnaldo Cardozo came out of the goal and Ivo Recife tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 36 minutes into the match, Vendinha's goalkeeper Agnaldo Cardozo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonardo Pena. Ivo Recife blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Agnaldo Cardozo having to make a save. Cleiton Dante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Gilvan Trancoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Vendinha getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Falcão Meireles hit a great ball. In the 48th minute of the match Vitinho Mendes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Agnaldo Cardozo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Leonardo Pena made the kick off in the second half. Cleiton Dante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilvan Trancoso having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Leonardo Pena cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Agnaldo Cardozo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Geraldo da Silveira's late challenge caught a Vendinha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Geraldo da Silveira helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Medieval Football Club getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Geraldo da Silveira hit a great ball. Medieval Football Club's Gilvan Trancoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Medieval Football Club from getting a goal against them. After 67 played minutes Medieval Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Ivo Recife. Gilvan Trancoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lúcio Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Medieval Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Lúcio Schmidt came free, but Gilvan Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leonardo Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Medieval Football Club's Gilvan Trancoso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Medieval Football Club from getting a goal against them. Carlinhos Proença recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hermínio Jacinto hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Vitinho Mendes didn't quite understand what happened when in the 88 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Vendinha's Agnaldo Cardozo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Pena in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Pena in the 92nd minute of play forced Vendinha's goalkeeper Agnaldo Cardozo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 97th minute Lúcio Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilvan Trancoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Medieval Football Club had won after a very even match.
