With his leg Waldir Lara managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when Ingaseiro's Márcio Toscano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Waldir Lara made a fantastic save in the 48th minute, when Márcio Toscano sent off a good shot on target. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Pedro Augusto Pires got in the 65th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Waldir Lara handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. In the 68th minute Pedro Augusto Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
