Betão Paiva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but João Augusto Vidal made a huge save. João Augusto Vidal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Bujaru EC's Zé Paulo Carioca got a free kick in the 11th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Guga Pimenta got free with João Augusto Vidal in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 15th minute Betão Paiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Augusto Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute of the match Jailson Reis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Augusto Vidal skillfully saved the ball. Mário Jacinto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without João Augusto Vidal having to make a save. Bujaru EC's João Augusto Vidal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Bujaru EC from getting a goal against them. João Augusto Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betão Paiva in the 31st minute of play. In the 36th minute, Betão Paiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 38 played minutes Bujaru EC got a freekick which was hit by Zé Paulo Carioca. After 39 minutes, Márcio Cruz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fluminense FC and the Bujaru EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 39th match minute, Fluminense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Márcio Cruz to maneuver through the defense. After 43 played minutes, Fluminense FC's Betinho Carioca shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper João Augusto Vidal came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fluminense FC reached it. Fluminense FC's Zé Pedro Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manoel Guimarães in the 48th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmundo Cardozo to strike the kick off in the second half. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 65 minutes into the match, Bujaru EC's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Jacinto came free, but João Augusto Vidal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mário Jacinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zé Augusto Paraíba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. João Augusto Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ernesto Souto during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
