After some careless play in the Onos defense, Oswaldo Rocha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Humberto Alves. The Onos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Humberto Alves should have stopped the shot. Luiz Fábio Toledo took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Humberto Alves. Humberto Alves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After a rather tough play, Ceará S.A's Alexandre Negri got a free kick in the 18th minute. Virgílio Fontes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Humberto Alves stood somewhat misplaced when Luiz Fábio Toledo came free in front of goal and shot 0-7 to the left of him in the 54 minute. Virgílio Fontes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Ceará S.A's Luiz Fábio Toledo in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Onos's goalie prevented a goal. Richard Valladares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oswaldo Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Ceará S.A getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Virgílio Fontes hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Luiz Fábio Toledo took a quick shot and it went in 0-9 without a chance for Humberto Alves to make any attempt to save it. Virgílio Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Humberto Alves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 92 minutes, Richard Valladares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ceará S.A and the Onos players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Onos booed when Ceará S.A was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Falcão Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Germano Lira having to interfere. Germano Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Falcão Silveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The Onos fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ceará S.A were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
