Hélder de Amaral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Deivid Couto having to make a save. Emílio Paraense charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emílio Paraense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Emílio Paraense hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. When Nemoel United's Hélder de Amaral in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After a defensive mix-up in Palestra Itália's zone, Hélder de Amaral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Deivid Couto came out of the goal and Hélder de Amaral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Mário Tinoco came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Palestra Itália fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mário Tinoco couldn't finish the play. Hélder de Amaral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Deivid Couto having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Daniel Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nemoel United's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Sena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Deivid Couto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sebastião Velasco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mário Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After 36 minutes of play, Palestra Itália's Mário Tinoco made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sebastião Velasco was left in no man's land by his defense there! Daniel Sena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mário Tinoco in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastião Velasco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 44th match minute, Nemoel United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando Vergílio to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the game, Palestra Itália's Dudu Araújo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sebastião Velasco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélder de Amaral was the one to do the kick off. In the 55thth minute of the game Hélder de Amaral who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palestra Itália's Deivid Couto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Daniel Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Deivid Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélder de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dudu Araújo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mário Tinoco fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palestra Itália's protests and gave Mário Tinoco a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Nemoel United booed when Palestra Itália was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Tinoco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute Cléberson Brodel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Deivid Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Dudu Araújo sped through Nemoel United's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sebastião Velasco. Hélder de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Hélder de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Nemoel United's Paulo Gaúcho seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Paulo Gaúcho the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Nemoel United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Paulo Gaúcho had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 85 minutes into the game, one of Nemoel United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 1-4 came through a penalty shot after 88 played minutes, when Palestra Itália:s Raí da Mata calmly waited for Nemoel United:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. Sebastião Velasco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dudu Araújo in the 95th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mário Tinoco got free with Sebastião Velasco in the 99th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
