Josué Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denílson Meira in the 7th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the game, AA Custelense's Delfim Vasconcelos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Josué Lira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Josué Lira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Denílson Meira went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in AA Custelense's zone, Mauro Garcia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Genílson Mazza came out of the goal and Mauro Garcia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Josué Lira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Delfim Vasconcelos went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Denílson Meira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 38 minutes into the game, AA Custelense's Delfim Vasconcelos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Josué Lira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Josué Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Delfim Vasconcelos, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. 44 minutes into the match, Cosmo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Delfim Vasconcelos came free, but Josué Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Delfim Vasconcelos scored 0-5 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Josué Lira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Denílson Meira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Josué Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Denílson Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Josué Lira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Meira in the 62nd minute of play. Delfim Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Josué Lira having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Cosmo EC's zone, Denílson Meira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Josué Lira came out of the goal and Denílson Meira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Cosmo EC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Mauro Garcia hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Delfim Vasconcelos got free with Josué Lira in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When AA Custelense's Denílson Meira in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The supporters of Cosmo EC booed when AA Custelense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elói Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Armando de Toledo during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Denílson Meira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. AA Custelense had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
